Fastest Sedan in the World?

Fastest Sedan in the world

Not bad.

But only 552hp gets it to 60 in under 4 seconds - and it weighs @5,500lbs?? Impressive.

the new M5 is barely faster then the E46 M3, if at all. Even the V-Series from Cadillac can run with the new M's......as of today at least.

Saw the CTS-V ad in the Wired magazine today. 400hp 5.7L V8 with 14" Brembo brakes.
0-60 in 4.6 secs. How fast will the new M5 be?

nah.. you seen the Auto Motor und Sport test... 0-60 is all about traction and launch and is over rated... The e60 was testing doing the 1/4 in 12.3-4 range..

hmm I don't know about that especially with the advent of S65 AMG.. E55's with a good launch are dippin into the low 12s... with slicks people have been running high 11's... the S65 with 738ft/lb of torque will crush those times...

The M5 has:

13" Non-Brembos
V10 with 500hp
0-60 in 4.7 secs.

The only thing that has the M5 going is its handling...and its price (vs the Bentley). Other than that, the Americans have really started to sh*t on BMW's M division with their new cheap supersedans.

Hell, for the price of a 545i, you can get a CTS-V that will spank the M5 in most departments. That is SERIOUS business.

Besides, Audi will be introducing a new RS6 sedan, which will be using a 500hp+ twin-turbo 5.0L+ V8...and with quattro, even I could ensure a good launch.

In my opinion, BMW screwed up with the new M5. I know the 0-60 is just ONE test, out of like 1000. But frankly, too many other competitors are matching M-cars these days, at the same price or lower! The biggest let-down is how you can pick up an M3, costing tens of thousands of dollars less, mod a little, and spank the M5 in every department.

If BMW spent all that money on a V10, at least make 600hp out of it or something...maybe a little more torque than the previous M5, too. Geez someone wrongfully advised them this time!

M5 vs V

I can attest to first hand knowledge of the CTS-V pulling away from an E-39 M5 up to about 125.

To be honest, I wanted an M5, but couldn't find one, so I got the V. I was afraid to run into an angry M5 on the road some day, for fear that I would be disappointed in the V. Though I still pine for a M5, I'm not afraid of them performance-wise anymore.

As far as mods go, for under 10k, I can add a Corsa exhaust and a magnacharger to my car. Similar mods, with a custom tune, are putting down 475 hp to the wheels on CTS-V's. Scary power.
