Radio Code for a Z3

A co-worker recently had the battery die in his '00 Z3.
Because this has happened, he claims that his cd changer
will not work. he's being prompted to enter some sort of
code to get the radio working again. is this true?
he tried calling the dealer and they told him they couldn't
give him the code over the phone and to bring the vehicle in.
any suggestion?

I think it's the anti-theft feature of the head unit. He'll probably have to take it to a dealer.

Same as if he removed the radio and re-installed it. It's the theft-prevention measure.
