What is a useless mod? Or is there such a thing?

I had this list in another thread so I decided to post it here to get your educated input. The first 8 are mine. #9 is input from another member.

#1 It was not included when it came from the factory.

#2 It does not increase performance

#3 It's throwing good money away

#4 These may prevent one from driving around NYC

#5 it dosent make the BMW better

#6 This was bought from people who want to sell things

#7 It may make your BMW look different

#8 They cannot be installed on a leased BMW

#9 It makes up for your small member.

Yeah this is 1984 and self expression should be surpressed. One should not have an individual interpretation of anything. Every sinlge thing in your life should be an out of the box experience. Nothing should be fabricated or made from scratch or imagined. Your mind should not wander from the task at hand. From the east coast to the west coast if you have a slice of pizza with pepperoni and cheese it should taste exacty at 100 different pizzerias so as to ensure that when one takes a bite the senses are not surprised by a different taste smell or texture. Everyone should wear grey everything. All vehicles should be blue. All imputs to the senses should be the same.

We all should hear, smell, taste, touch, and all see the same things.

Gimme me an ffn break!

I saw this post last week and stop my self from commenting....

If a person wants to put hydraulics on their X5 who gives a DAMN! If that person likes it more power to them. Life is short and if moding your stuff brings you happiness break your neck. You need to justify it to NO ONE!

X54.4 you would have been perfect in the old communist eastern block. DRAB BLANK SELFEXPRESIONLESS SOCIETY.

Nope not thinking about any question. Just floating some sarcasm Simply put, all one needs to grow his/her brain is to do unique, random, different, and ridiculous things as often as possible. (like adding mods when it dosen't make sense) One hour of increased brain activity via thinking a lot or experiencing new stimuli can make you smarter, more energetic, more creative, and more sociable, and less dogmatic.

Or While waiting (in line at the bank, a coffee shop, a restaurant, the grocery store, or waiting for someone to pick you up, or a show on TV to start), ponder things, calculate, memorize how many useless mods one could do to his SAV. You can, for example, memorize digits of Pi (you can get to 50 in a matter of hours, 200 in a matter of weeks), try to remember all of your high school teachers' names, memorize Prime Numbers, get fast at reciting the alphabet backwards, the Greek alphabet (forwards and backwards), remember as many movies that Tom Cruise has been in, try Doubling numbers, start at 1, to 2, to 4, to 8, till you get to larger numbers than you can handle.

Or Take unusual classes. Find a community college near you, pick up a catalog, and open your mind to learning things like Art History, Underwater Basketweaving, First Aid training, or Business Ethics. My local university offers many easy survey courses with no prerequisites, such as Vampires and Werewolves, Meteorology, Nutrition, Japanese Pop Culture, etc. How awesome would it be to know basic Meteorology? Learn different languages (Esperanto, Japanese, French, Arabic, Italian, Navajo, etc.) especially those with roots very different from your own (most Asian languages, for example, will challenge you to use tones to distinguish words - a skill not required by the Romance languages). All translated into the different ways one could explain useless mods done to the SAV.

Watch movies in genres that you normally don't partake in, such as Cyberpunk, scary, Anime, documentaries, stand up comedy (Eddie Izzard, Dane Cook, Mitch Hedberg). IMDb is a great site to look for movies that other people enjoy. They break them down by genre as well. Remember to be open-minded about things you don't know about.

Useless mod?
If a "mod" makes you happy, then it has a purpose ( to make "you" happy)
One person's opinion might contradict you being happy, he might be right but he might also be WRONG, so do whatever pleases you... IMHO

I have no problems with blue either. I agree that there are no "useless" mods. They serve the purpose of letting you enjoy your X5 that much more. So the only mod that is useless is the one that is not done? I also agree that we should be open-minded and explore things we know nothing about or that we want to know more about. Life is too short. Enjoy it while you can. Even if that includes hydraulics and lambo doors on your X5, just make sure you post pics! That would be one interesting ride.

I agree, we should enjoy our X5s the way we want it,
this "anti-mod issue " is getting boring.
