Missed my 4' birdie putt for the $....

I'm so pissed...(well, not really, it's all relative....)...I had a 4 footer for Birdie on 18 to take all the money and break some hearts...I've been playing this course since I was a kid....I know this putt...or so I thought. I did'nt even hit the hole--Make it, take coin and pride from Pop and Bro...miss it, and I'm buy'in drinks...must of had CMyX5Go on the brain..... ...hit 13 fairways and 14 greens...28 putts for a 77......Nice day....bought the drinks...

That's what separates the pros from us amateurs - the ability to handle the pressure. You had to make a 4" put for braggin rights and $50 worth of drinks. The pros have to make a 4' putt for the cover of SI, a contract with Nike and a million dollar cheque. Imagine your pressure X100000.

At least you got in a round of golf. I can't remember the last time chased the ball (as MD would say).

Yer griping about a 77 scorecard? Sorry, I don't know how that feels probably because I'm a crap golfer. I'm good for at least 2-3 triples a round. If I shoot a mid-80 on a good course, I'm taking the wife out to dinner to celebrate...

But I'm sure Freddie Couples can commiserate...

In my fifth year, (and middle aged),
of "learning" to chase it, I have one
freakin word to describe the game:
insidious.

I'm just happy keeping the stinking ball on the stinking fairway.

Lee Trevino had a healthy perspective. He was onced asked if it was a lot of pressure to have a $1 million first-place prize hanging on the outcome of a single putt. He said that was no pressure at all, because if he missed it he'd come in second and still get $700,00.

Pressue is relative - a 4 footer for braggin right & drinks, or to win a Major and millions. You missed the putt, but had a fun day with Pop and Bro. Next time clear your head of any thoughts of redheaded fantasies and nail that putt.
