Sorry to hear about that. I'm not so naive as to think that it doesn't happen but as with all human endeavours, there are good and bad people involved. Fortunately, and I honestly believe this, the majority of cops are not like that but there are sure to be some.

Your situation is the type that gets blown off because of others who use DWB/DWH as an excuse. In my neck of the woods recently, a CHP officer was trying to arrest a Hispanic guy for DUI. The guy decided to fight and tried to get the cop's baton from him. There are witnesses to this. The officer shot and killed the guy in self-defense. Incidentally, about 2 years ago a cop was killed with is own baton out here. Anyway, now there are "witnesses" who claim that the cop was beating the guy for 20 minutes before shooting the guy. The family has hired an attorney and they are all over the news calling it a case of racial profiling. Race had nothing to do with the guy being under the influence and the population in that particular city is 99% Hispanic so how could you racially profile if everyone in that city is Hispanic? Anyway sorry for the rant but that story makes me think that when outrageous claims of racial profiling are made, it takes away the validity of situations like yours, at least in some people's minds. See also Congresswoman McKinney last week. People don't need another reason to dismiss othewise legitimate complaints.

You did the right thing by taking the high road. There is nothing to be gained by trying to get into it with a person like that.

Glad to hear that you did not get caught up in any of that BS that goes with being yanked for DWB. Maybe this trooper will note the files that you're "OK", but isn't even that idea more than a tad offensive?

By the way, y'all...don't refer to Alpine as "man"...show the lady some respect

Even funnier the different treatment between me an my CEO driving. The rare times she gets pulled over 4 speeding, it's almost like an ass kissing game by the cops, she always gets away with a warning, but me.....

It happens to my bro a lot too, he's in NYC, and a couple of years ago averaged getting pulled over once/twice per week for a month!

Alpine, have you have seen the movie "Crash"? I am really sorry about that--it will pass. I wonder if maybe there should be a cap on the amount of time a cop spends on the street before they are obliged to take a chill out sabbatical...maybe teaching elementary school or US Forest Service or civil defense. It's getting to the point where knowing your rights and defended them leads to a "resisting without violence" charge. And I swear cops all appear to be on steroids these days. In Florida, the FHP folks seem to be a lot more professional. I have a horrible cop experience (me, white, cop Dominican) which ended up with a settlement from the city, I can relate, but this whole thing of DWB has got to stop.

Incidentally, last night, a friend of ours who works for a member of Congress got pulled doing 98 in a 70. He got off with a warning. Hmmmm.
