best/CHEAPEST miniDV cam for track use?

Hey everyone-

So i've got one REALLY GREAT prosumer miniDV cam (sony dcr-trv900 3CCD) that i've been using for 5 yrs; but i need one more camera for wednesday's thunderhill track day.

i want the cheapest possible while still getting usable footage lol ... i would like to have the manual override ability to set a ceratin exposure setting and to hold it there so it doesn't keep changing on its own as the lighting changes while driving. this i secondary though, and i do NOT want to pay more than $300 *MAX* seeing as how cheap cameras have gotten lately.

from your initial requirement of under $300, i doubt that most of the folks here would be in the low range market so they won't have much to recommend. that said, i gave you 2 links that would give you a great selection of what is available for under $300 and you would be on a great lead to finding your camera.

thats what i used to get started on my camcorder search a few weeks ago... i ended up with the sanyo hd1 hybrid. small enough to fit in your pocket, hd recording capabalities, great clarity in both camcorder and picture mode.. the other choice was a dedicated hard drive based camcorder (the toshiba r30 or r60). but all of those cameras are more then what you limited your budget to be at.

yeah its just that i already have a super-high-end camera ... i just don't need more than basic ability to record at the track

anyway ... i pm'd you about the camera mount bar ...

here's a pic of from my car that shows the latch hooks that you are to remove and use the bolts from. they are circled. as i said in my pm, that rear shelf is just a big piece of cushion and carpet. just remove it for the track day and put it back when you are back on the regular streets.

) of JVC miniDV cams ... $320 each lol ... go them from costco so that if i'm not pleased with them, i can always return them and finally, at last, get my Digital Rebel XT
