the cost isn't the point, reducing our dependence on oil from the middle east is. Any less oil we import is a good thing.

If it only reduces cost by a penny, can't imagine it does much for reducing dependancy.
Keep in mind I was all for drilling Alaska, till I read that.

out of that 1,900,000 sq miles, they are only asking to drill in approx 2,000 sq miles. About 1%. Every little bit counts. Whatever they recover is that much less than we have to buy elsewhere.
