Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Hey Guys,

My mom, sisters, and I are going on a cruise next month. We are trying to figure out which excursion to do in St. Maarten. To those of you who have visited...any recommendations?

I think we are doing a "Beach Day" when we are in Labadee, Haiti, so I am thinking we want to do something more like scuba diving or snorkeling or even one of the island tours in St. Maarten.

Hi, Michelle. My family and I just got back from a cruise too. We were on the Freedom of the Seas. Which ship are you taking? If you are stopping in Labadee, I assume you're sailing with Royal Carib. That is their private beach resort and it is pretty nice. The beach BBQ they prepare is awesome. Check out the tour possibilities online at Royal's website, or wait unitl you get aboard and they will have a video showing the various excursions available through the ship.

We are on the new Liberty of the Seas ship. We leave in five weeks.

Since there are five of us going, we wanted to have the excursions reserved prior to departing. I've been checking out the excursion options on their website. I doubt we can go wrong with any of them.

You will love the ship. I think it has the same surf-rider machine onboard that the Freedom has. Make sure you give it a try. It's like surfing on a constant wave. Check out all the clubs and nightlife on board too. There's lots to do. One warning though, the ship holds around 4000 people, so getting on and off the ship can be slow due to security checks, etc., so plan on some lines. Also, the ports get busy too when all the other cruise ships get in at the same time, so plan you land tours early.

Yes, the Liberty of the Seas is in the Freedom family. It has the Flow Rider, Rockclimbing Wall, and Ice-Skating Rink.

A co-worker of mine got to take a mini-cruise on it a few weeks ago. It left from New Jersey, went out to sea, then came back a day later.

Here is a picture of the Flow Rider. That's the captain of the ship!
