rant...

Ok.. so the M5 left me stranded today in 98 degree heat. We were in downtown Danville for lunch and was about to leave to head home because it was pretty damn hot today. Jumped in the car, started it up, put into reverse, car dies... WTF? ok no problem.. my driving skills are not that bad. So did it again, car cranks, starts, and dies again. Check batteries, lights.. that's not it.. it cranks and starts. Pop the hood checked the hoses, everything is intact and couldn't see hoses popped off or whatever. Pop open the fuel door, pull the cap off.. crap.. no pressure. 60K miles.. fuel pump died.

I called East Bay BMW and Alan E. and Jim B. and the guys hooked me up and sent a tech and another SA to help me out and also drop off my wife at home. (If you guys go to East bay BMW, Billy aka Willy Junior is the man). they called roadside assistance for me and had the car towed to the dealer about 12 miles away. Scary cause the car almost didn't clear for the flatbed because it was too low. Almost scraped my exhaust too.

Well anyways, the fellas there hooked me up big time with a 750li loaner...
Very nice car and the 4.8l motor makes a world of a difference as compared to the 745's I've driven...

Another funny thing, while waiting for the flatbed.. thought crossed my mind that it's only 12 miles from home and I can actually run and get home in an 1:50mins.. haha.. oh the stupid mind of a triathalon training victim.

Yeah last night I was pissed because the drivers window on our 325i (moms car) would not go out at all!

Your mind . Definately your dealer has top notch service. My father-in-law is getting a 2007 750i with night vision. And the soft close feature is good on 7 series. I wish X5 had that feature.

hmm.. I thought as of the the facelift, they do? the night vision option is pretty cool. The sales guys were all like "we got another M6 sitting here with your name on it, look.. all I have to do is open microsoft word and type it and print it out!"

Only the rear hatch is soft close. On 7 series there is soft close for all doors as part of convenience package. On my X5 I have to slam hard and my wife closes twice in my X5 as she is used to soft close on her car.

Sorry to hear about this. But changing fuel pumps at 60k miles is par for the course, I think. But I just hate to get stranded. It's happened to me a few times in Beemers. Glad to hear that you got a nice loaner. My SF dealer would have just called a cab for me
