Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK-GTR Lemon

Apparently MB doesn't stand benind one of the most expensive vehicles they have ever made......

"When we took it off the lot in 2004 for its first customer test drive, [dealership co-owner Ernest Johnston] drove the car all of 10 blocks with a prospective buyer when the oil light came on. We've been trying to get it fixed ever since, but the Mercedes folks have refused to stand behind the car as promised in our contract."

the car's transmission failed to shift properly, the hydraulic jack system failed and the car's windows came unglued. Mercedes ultimately determined that the car suffered from an oil pressure-related engine failure, the plaintiffs allege, but refused to make any repairs.

I love the final lines....
Previous investigations of vehicles for alleged unintended acceleration have consistently shown that such incidents were the result of driver error, Palese said.

"When the brakes are applied, the vehicle stops; the brakes always win," said Palese. "Even if the accelerator is nailed to the floor, a driver can stop the vehicle by applying the brakes."

What they don't add is that in a very short amount of time a vehicle can go very far with the right amount of throttle. And if a person is only feet in front of the car, the reaction time will not be quick enough to stop 4500lbs.

A-holes.

Seems like the MB/Chrysler merge was one of the worst in history....both products are crap (some turning that way, others staying the same) and the service is following suite.

I think the buyer just had second thoughts after the purchase... and now wants his money back.

that's actually really funny because in today's paper the mercedes advertisement was for CPOs that said guaranteed not to be + picture of a lemon. Mercedes build quality is not very good, I got a CLK 320 convertible in January of 2005 and Mercedes-Benz corp ended up buying it back due to all the problems it had.

our SL65 has been OK, the Command Navi system is a horrible system that rarely works as promised, the hard top leaked when we first bought it and the fog lamps keep burning out, its annoying and I would NEVER buy a MB
