Help with a Resume...

Can you kind people here help me with my Resume?

I would welcome any advice or pointers. I haven't written one in over 5 years and basically don't know how to start or where.

Thanks for any advice or if anyone can give me some personal help it would be much appreciated. TIA.

Perhaps you might want to focus your search for advice by stating what line of work you're in or are looking for. Résumés can be very particular for certain fields. If you're in tech, for example, guys here who routinely hire tech workers can help you better than someone who works in the restaurant biz.

Good luck!

The main thing I can suggest is to make yourself look ambitious. List things like "career goals" and make yourself appear anxious to take on responsibility. Too many people make the mistake of just listing their education and prior jobs, and it comes across rather dull.

Good advice from PNG. Your line of work will dictate how the resume should look, feel and sound.

I tried google. The problem with that is that most of them you had to pay for. Others you had to sign up for memberships and trials and such like that.

OK here's a tip, though it might not apply to someone with limited experience.

Start with an Objective. What are you looking for?
Then list a
Summary of Skills, things that set you apart. Here is some crap I got from a resume I received in my inbox, and actually I think it sounds good.

A motivated self-starter with broad business experience in establishing and running profit and not-for-profit entities.
An accomplished negotiator and communicator able to work effectively and balance the needs of clients and their families, as well as business counterparts.
An organized multi-tasker and a skilled problem solver able to handle multiple and divergent projects and issues.
Conscientious and hard working with an earned reputation for integrity, dedication, efficiency and professionalism.
Proficient in the Windows PC environment, including network applications and hardware, office suites, and various design and marketing programs.

The get to work experience. Be sure to use lots of action verbs. Developed, Designed, Maintained, Negotiated, Built, Created--stuff like that.

Make it look good and professional, though not too long and boring. It needs to stand out from the crowd but not be so original as to be annoying. It's a hard balance to reach.

B:
Still not aware of your "area", which as posted by the gang, will have
some affect on "style" of your rezzy...

For an internship, I'd keep the sucker to One Page.

You are seeking a no-pay work experience, not signing up
for the next trip to Anarctica.

You might bug Vinuneuro, http://www.xoutpost.com/members/603/vinuneuro.html

He is a very, very bright young man that is just coming off
an internship.

Less is more, imo...when it comes to Rezzys. I read thousands
of those dreamland/creative writing/master of universe blatties
in my 30 yrs.
