Home Theater system help.

The past couple weeks i've been trying to lay out a nice little home theater system in my room.

So far i have a
37inch sharp aquos lcd
panasonic s77s dvd player (hdmi to tv)
Pair of Signature 7NT B&W speakers, powered by an older bryston amp.
My reciever is a Teac AG-H550
and a Bob Carver Sunfire MK II subwoofer tops provides more than enough bass.

Recently i've been thinking about getting a surge/power conditioner for everything. Does anybody have one of the Belkin PureAV PowerCenter.

Here is the one i was looking at.
http://cgi.ebay.com/PURE-AV-AP41300-...QQcmdZViewItem

Anybody use these things? Will i get any picture improvement? The reviews are great all models. Any suggestions would be great!

Monster cable also has some models but i feel there overpriced and not the same quality of the Belkin.

KMan,
No Xpert here; anecdotally, I have friends that have 50G systems or 2 G systems and, I personally have Monster surge/cleanerUpper on my Mtn and FLA "systems", though neither are more than above average in "grade".

I can hardly tell the diff., as the 50G guys love to run any media at 120 dBs to "show off the sound", which is really SPL. Pic-wise, it is all over the map base upon feed, camera, process, etc., as you know.

You might peruse the site below, but like economists or, car fans, for every 100 posters there are about 98 differing opins.

Helluva sys you have assembled. Enjoy and don't sweat too much over the $50/ft "cable run" guys, imo.

You're running HDMI for your DVD player, but what about your cable/satellite?

As md said, it depends on the feed/resolution that's coming down to you far as pic/sound, but do HDMI when you can and if not, component cables and optical audio. Buy the best (most $$) cables you can afford and get yourself a nice universal remote. The power conditioner is a great idea. You found a decent one there in that Belkin.

After trying out a Sony LCD touchpad universal (my TV, VCR, DVD player are all Sony), I went with this one. It does everything I'd ever want it to do all from one remote.

We have 2 of those in our house and they work great, I think they retail for about $600 but they can do anything.

As of right now, i dont have sat running into my room, Thats another $10 a month that i need to talk to my parents about, plus getting the wire installed.

I only have 1 Hdmi input on my tv so i might have to upgrade to a hdmi receiver if i want both sat and dvd to run with hdmi strength.

i agree with everything but buying the most expensive cables. optical cables are optical cables, don't waste your money on the monster versions. Check out newegg.com or buy.com for cables. Don't get bottom of the barrel, but don't go crazy either, unless your system is "tuned" by a pro, you won't hear the difference. (IMHO)

digital signals are either 'there' or 'not there'. Monster is too expensive for optical.

It's not the cable that you're worried about with optical, it's the connector. You don't have to go with Monster brand, but when buying cables, price is not your friend cause you do get what you pay for, exactly what I think gresch was implying. Trust me on this one- after 10 years in radio, I know there are some shoddy heads on some cables out there and some of the insulation is an afterthought.
