Pennies

I think we should do away with them. They cost 1.2 cents to make not to mention are almost useless and I'm so tired of throwing them away. What does everyone else think?

They are a pain but you should just toss alll your spare change in a big jar and give it to me.

Funny story: I was at a grocery store late one night at the Coinstar machine. I had an old cat litter bucket with a ton of change in it. I was pouring it into the maching. It sounded like a Vegas casino. A friend of mine walked in and looked at me like I was crazy. He made fun of me for schleping a cat litter bucket of change around. I looked like a kid who had broken open his piggy bank. He stopped laughing when I told him that it was a $120 worth of change, not including quarters. That was another $80. Save your change. It adds up.

On another note, if you hate change, you'd hate Canada. They use $1 and $2 coins. They're big and heavy and fill up your pockets damn quickly. The only good thing was that I'd save the $1 coins (there weren't $2 coins yet) from tips and at the end of the month I'd have a few hundred bucks.

Just imagine what kind of TV you could have gotten if you saved all those pennies you throw away!

I have a 2 liter beer stein I just filled with change after many months. It's time to go to the bank and turn it in but it is kind of embarrasing to do that. You do feel like a kid that just broke open his piggy bank!

Let's see, get away with the penny then all items will be rounded up to the closest nickle. Then in a year or two they will say 'get rid of the nickle' and items will be rounded up to the nearest dime.....

The government blows far more money on other things, 1.2 cents for a 1 cent coin isn't that bad.
