Am I at fault?

Today I was at costco and I was waiting for my turn at the register. My sister then remembered that she had forgot to pick up something so I told her to go hurry up and get it since i was one customer away in line. After a few minutes, she still hasn't returned so being the next one in line i let the three customers behind go ahead of me one at a time, looking out for my sister after letting each customer go ahead in line. I did this out of courtesy to the customers because i didn't want to hold the line and i didn't want to lose my spot either. The two customers who i let go ahead, thanked me and I told them no problem since i didn't want to keep them in line. The third guy however was kind of pissed that i was letting everyone behind me go ahead and gave me this "aren't you gonna move out of the line for me" rude body language and look. I just bit my tongue and swallowed it to avoid any confrontation. So this third guy who is busy putting his stuff in the conveyer belt starts to bitch when my sister comes. He told me that I was being rude and holding people in line in spite the fact that i let him go ahead of me. To my knowledge, i don't believe i did anything wrong. Furthermore, he goes on ranting about how pissed off the customers who were behind me were. So i looked backed and ask them if i did anything wrong. Non of them replied because they were probably saw my anger building up and besides, the two customers who i let ahead thanked me. At this point i was infuriated and my blood started to boil. I tried to settle the arguement we were having in a civil manner but he kept on bitching like a M+O+F+O. He wouldn't stop. I've taken all that I could take so i blew my top and went ballistic on his ass making the scene much bigger. Costco employees started to surround me cause i was literally firing away cursing at that guy. I told the this guy, hey if you have a problem with me, deal with me you wuss. He couldn't prove his point about the customers being pissed off. Right after i blew it, proved my point, and answered him right back, he couldn't even look at me in the eye and answer back. He payed for stuff and immediately left. I told him to wait for me outside as i was ready to hunt his ass down. Did I win? I don't think so for blowing my top and loosing it and I may have frightened some other customers. But I knew i just couldn't take that s**t when I was the one being attacked and when someone calls attention to me with the intent of embarrassing me. Please advice. Hehehehe.

Gushfrabba!

This is not bad area costco, but like good area costco where I expect people to be a bit more understanding and educated.

Isn't Costco a big warehouse discount place? Same as Sam's Club, BJ's, etc.?

Tough call, but the fact that you are reflecting on the issue is positive...it's hard to keep the adrenaline from doing the talking sometimes. The irony is that you were trying to be a decent guy about it.

Problem was maybe you wuz in the uppity Costco where everyone has an attitude because they are retail slumming when they feel they should be at Fred Segal or whatever. Problem is, Fred don't sell cat litter...

I think a simple "You, sir, are an idiot" would have been enough. Making a huge scene didn't really accomplish much (other than the fact that the fool probably won't do that again, which is something, I guess.).

Trust me i'm the kind of throwing fits (Neimans, BMW) and I have to say unless you have a real issue throwing a fit really doesn't do any good, in my circumstances I had reasons
BMW-scratched my car and denied it, major showroom fit, and I won
Neimans-Had pants hemmed and they ruined them and refused to credit me, once again, major fit and I won
Fits are immature and should be reserved when your dealing with what could be potentially expensive and really idiotic people are involved
