Angry AMEX loss and demage coverage for Rental Car

I rented a pick up truck from a local Enterprise rental car 2 months ago to pick up furniture.

1. They dumped the scratch on the truck bed as my fault. Upon rental car pick up, they handed me an incredibly dirty truck in a hurry without having me inspect the car, and when I returned the truck next day, they claimed that I caused the scratch in the back. (I had to clean up the car since it was so dirty.) It couldn’t have been my fault it was parked on my drive way of a gated community and other time she was never out of my site. I told to check the facts. They told me not to worry about it since their loss department will take care of it. They took care of me alright. Two months later, they sent me a bill in the amount $539. Obviously little too much for hair line scratch removal.

2. I rented the truck using American Express, I thought I was protected. Guess what? They say light trucks are excluded and turned down the claim.

3. They still want me to upgrade my card to premium because I charge and pay off over 100,000 $/year. Are you f*&^ing kidding me?

Amex users beware. There is much exclusion on the protection they offers.

PS. I purchased the tire protection plan, $500, for my X5 last year. Few months back I damaged the sidewall on the rear tire while backing out of my elderly friend's home. I was not able to see the low wall divider. They turned down my claim on the phone, saying hitting the curb, or driver's fault is not covered. I am still infuriated about that.

Wink

But as they say,

"Don't leave home without it!"

That has always been my card of choice. Centurion!

I personally understand your frustration however reading the exclusions is important if you want to protect yourself. Yeah I know most people don't (I do) because I don't like surprises. I ask for names and take notes when I talk to people over the phone also because what they say is important and I intend to hold them accountable for it. Just my 2cents

I've always wanted to know, but never found out... what does it take to get a centurion "black" card? I know it's by invitation only to select platinum members, but what makes you qualify for it?

You need to be Paris Hilton and/or have your sex video distributed in the Internet.
