We did a cheap/memory lane gas poll a while ago...
I remember when it was 17cts/gal and you got a cheapazz Detroit Tigers or Detoirt Lions glass with that $2.55 "fill up". And, Sunoco Blue HiTest, (equiv. to Sunoco 260 but with full tilt boogie Tetra-ethyl lead in it, was 22 cts/gal, or so. It is not going down or, "back" to what any of us knew it was, even from a year ago. 3 choices: drive less, suck it up or, get a car with higher mpg. And, for our friends across the pond: We know it's expensive there and taxed to the hilt. But, ya'll don't have 3500 mile coast to coast road trips too often.

Well that was what we were discussing over lunch today but I think i'd cost me more to trade in the X5 in depreciation then to just suck it up and pay for the gas?

I only have the time to take trips of 5000 miles when we take our holidays mind you the price on mainland Europe is slightly cheaper than UK prices. You lucky that you have the time to do 3500 mile coast to coast trips I don't I'm working most of the time. so I can afford to have my X5

I think you've broken the code... Do some arith on "payback time" when one dumps their X or Chevy or ..., for a Prius. Those partial fill ups must feel better though, huh?

The only good thing for us is that the quality of fuel whether it be premium or regular is way better over here. Any TopGear watchers will have heard JC banging on about your crap fuel

Yeah so Chuck and I came up with a perfect answer: from now on only 40.00 in the tank, on the X it lasts 5-7 days and the RR-3-5 and it doesn't seem as bad.

Prices in Spain are now not that far from those in the UK. To fill up in Madrid with 98RON from empty......115 euros.....equivalent to $146....now that is something to moan about..
