Ok, King Street Metro probably means you're at the Hilton, Embassy Suites or Residence Inn. Lots of good speots nearby, and you're on the West side of Old Town.

Most of the good restaurants are on King St. I'd recommend:

219 (Cajun/Creole/American) kind of fancy, but very unique and there's outdoor seating
Taverna Cretekou- good Greek fare and also an outdoor courtyard with EXCELLENT service
Murphy's- good old Irish pub, just don't try going with the kids on a weekend evening
Chadwick's- on the strand down by the Potomac, a good local place for a steak/burger

nearby to your hotel you have Stella's, Theismann's (as in Joe), Thai Peppers, Hard Times Chili Parlor and La Porta's.

You'll be within an easy and short Metro ride to downtown DC, enjoy your visit!

Lugers is a great choice, but $$$ and it might be hard to get a reservation at a prime eating time. Though it is so much food, you might not mind the 4:30 pm dinner. Yes, cash only, it is hard to get to in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), the ambience sucks and the waiters are rude. But they have all worked there for 50 years (no joke), the sawdust floors and uncomfortable chairs have a certain charm, and as mentioned, the Porterhouse is, imho, the best steak in the world. Perhaps it is because they inject it with butter after having aged it over 50 days, or maybe it's just because those ovens get to over 700 degrees.

Anyway, if you are 5, get the steak for 6 or 7 , some hash browns, creamed spinach and another side. Start with the tomato and onion salad and drown it in steak sauce. Soak up the remaining sauce on your plate with a few onion rolls. Oh, and save some room for the shlog. I thing they might even give you some strawberries or chocolate cake for the shlog.

Mmmmm. I am hungry now!!
