DUI, Thought this was interesting

http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...zer-usat_x.htm

I believe I've mentioned it before but I find DUI laws very interesting ever since I was hit in my 2005 X5 at between 55-65 mph by a drunk driver in a Nissan Titan, as stated I feel my BMW saved my life and allowed me to escape with only minor injuries.

I applaud New Mexico's Breathalyzer interlock that forces any Drunk Driver to blow into before starting their car, I really wish It was a law in California.

I think it would be great for all vehicles to have an in-car breathilizer.

Certainly a debatable topic. Are you willing to blow into something every time you want to drive your car, or someone else's car? I certainly don't like that idea. I think there are better ways to address the problem...

Good point - do you think this way will be successful - why?

so a drunk driver gets behind the wheel, and asks someone who hasnt been drinking to blow... could it be any easier to defeat?

Just more of the liberal BS trying to save us from ourselves... How much would it add to the cost of a vehicle to have one of these installed (and maintained) in every one of them? What if the unit breaks and disables the car when there is an emergency? Besides, how long do you think it will take to figure out how to disable one of those things?

Well I would prolly still be driving my 2005 X5 and wouldn't have major pains in my neck and upper back if this had been a feature in the idiots car who hit me. My opinion is anything that keeps those losers off the road is money well spent. As for the liberal thing, I'd like to see you get slammed by a drunk driver and lets just see how your opinion changes!

how is this going to keep the losers off the road? Like Gresch said, 1) it adds unnecessary cost to the car 2) it's so easily defeated makes #1 pointless.

To fix a problem, you got to identify the problem and find cost effective ways to fix it at the source. Not some stupid bandaid. Do you use a hammer to kill a fly??? You obviously don't have the mental capacity to grasp that concept.

Actually since your obviously mis informed as usual you can look up the New Mexico website and find that it has reduced SIGNIFICANTLY their repeat DUI arrests as well as fatalities...It seems you always resort to personally attacking me which is immature, stay on topic and don't insult me simply because my opinion differs from yours.

Here's another possible solution....why not actually have some concern for a fellow human being and take the keys? Get them a cab? Take them in the back and let them sleep it off? Give a damn about someone else besides ourselves?
