I feel like Bruce Willis in "Sixth Sence"

Apparently without any warning or communication whatsoever, my X5World account was deactivated about 3 weeks ago. But instead of being "banned", I was still able to log in and make posts, start threads, etc. -- everything seemed normal. That is until yesterday when I was on someone else's computer and was browsing the forum without signing on, and I noticed that none of my posts were there.

So I've been posting messages in threads for 3 weeks now and nobody except for me could see them. Basically I was invisible. Same goes for PMs -- I sent a few and nobody responded, and that is because they never received them. On my end it looked like they were sent, but on the other end they never existed.

I am still listed in the "Member List", and although it says I have made over 400 posts, you will not be able to find any of them. Any threads in which I started -- even threads from 2 months ago -- are all gone from the forum memory. Only I can see them when I sign on.

I'm guessing this was done because of my posts in political threads. If someone (perhaps a Moderator?) had even suggested to me that I was in danger of being banned from the forum, I would have gladly stopped posting in such threads, as my main purpose for being in this forum is for X5 information. But nobody ever said a word to me about any of this. There was total silence.

While I realize that my opinions on some political subjects were in the minority here, I never posted any personal attacks.

And I did contribute to this forum in some ways as well, even though I've only been a member for a couple of months. One such example is when I gladly looked up car values on Galves.com for a couple dozen X5World members. But that thread has been purged from the database along with all of the others.

So I am asking if someone could please re-activate my account to normal status. I'll agree to never post again in another political thread. You have my word.

Thanks,

Eric5273

Edit: BTW, I finally took some pictures of my new X5, but obviously it would be a waste to post them as nobody would be able to see them.

I'll get them up in the next couple of days. I borrowed a friend's digital camera, but I don't have a card reader to upload the pictures. I'll give it back to him on monday and should have my pictures shortly afterwards.

I'm not a moderator, but in my opinion, everyone (including Eric) has a right to post in political threads along with everyone else. Yes, this is an automotive forum first and foremast, but there are too many important events that take place in the world to preclude them from being discussed. Topics of relevance and significance will be brought to the table.

The moderators don't have time to police every thread to see where good discussions have deteriorated into attacks. If a political thread comes up, state your opinion if you (collectively) wish, just don't beat it to death.

Welcome back, Eric.

This is not, and has never been, about "the right to post political threads," or not. This has always been about doing so using respectfully, with no personal insults or attacks. Political threads have always been a part of this forum, and will continue to be. As Jeff and Drex have stated numerously in the past, however, you can attack the idea, but not the person.

That being said (and I hate re-hashing the events that led to Eric's ban), I'll just say that Eric hijacked several car-related threads and impolitely inserted his political views in those threads. If you've got an opinion or an issue you want to discuss, we urge to start a thread in the lounge. Do not hijack a thread to express your political views; start your own.

Juan

Despite the fact that the forum is run near perfect thanks to super intelligent admins here, I found out it hickups occasionally due to heavy traffic. This weird thing happen to me from time to time. I am saving up my lunch money to make sure this people are taken care of as well.

I am always thanksful knowing that these people will make zillions of dollars if they chose to use their time and skills making money instead of maintaining this site.

Welcome back, Eric. I would appreciate if you not quote your widget theory again. I feel like your superior intelligence is waisted that way. Often time putting a URL will suffice instead of cutting and pasting the whole thing. Some cares not to scrol down few seconds. Just my 2 cents.
