Our beef: Price and misapplied prestige

Yes, we're doing it again: We're picking on the mighty BMW 3-Series. Fine, so it's snagged a zillion awards. Those fine men and women handing out the awards aren't usually the ones paying for and living with these cars on a long-term basis. There's no doubt the revamped line upholds the BMW tradition of refined performance. Also, 3s have avoided being rendered in the controversial lines that drove buyers away from the 7-Series a few years back. To that end, we love driving them every chance we get. The thing that continues to bug us about the Bimmer is the requisite yuppie image and the unfavorable value for the price (excluding the remarkable M3). The base 325i sedan's starting point is now $30,900 -- and that only buys vinyl seats. For our money, the Acura TL, Audi A4 and Infiniti G35 sedans deliver the goods with better value and without the negative stereotypes.

So they would rather have a FWD Acura TL, interesting. Shows you what they know about cars

I really liked the 330 I had as a loaner; agree that it's pricey when loaded
and that 2 speedo w/toothbrush "trunk" won't do it for us, but it's a helluva
handling 4 door sedan.

I wonder how I ever managed to survive to almost 59 without that
site, though?!

It's ironic that they are so concerned with the image a 3er projects when their entire "raison d'etre" as a site is based purely on creating an image which is "the goods" they are talking about because it can't be the performance goods.

No kidding. You cant buy shit for 30k anymore. I mean the 3 is no amazing bargain. But for what you get i think its a deal. Acura TL, Audi A4 and Infiniti G35 sedans are nice but go drive all 3 then drive the 3 series and tell me which one you want to drive every day. Besides the 3 series outsells all of its competitors combined.
