someone wants to pay me $1000 to give them my first place spot for an E90 M3

I currently have the first place spot at my dealer for an E90 M3. My salesman called me today and told me some guy came in the other day wanting to order a E90 M3 and when he found out there was already close to 15 people on the list he told the salesman to start calling everyone onthe list starting with #1 (me) and start offering them $1000 dollars for there spot. I said no because i will be kicked back 15 spots. Am I an idiot for not taking the money and just waiting for the M3. Or do you think i did the right thing. My salesman said im probably gonna have to wait about 9 months for me to get one if i give up my spot. I figured screw that i really want the new M3 bad and let the other guy wait for it. I should have just said something rediculous like id do it for 10k and see if the guy went for it or maybe go close to it. I think i would do it for 5k or more. But 1K kust isnt worth it to me. What do you guys think?

Rich people think weird. 1st spot, 15th spot, 1000th spot, M3, $5K, $1K blah blah blah, some kids just want a meal.

yes take the $1000 and run. Free money plus first batch of cars are always going to have problems.

I say take the grand or maybe even try to get a little more out of this sucker. I too have the Numero Uno spot at my dealer. I will be looking to cash that spot out since I got my E90 330i.

BMW would have to pay ME more than $1k to take the first batch of anything they make. I was a beta tester on a 1977 320i....never again.

Hold out! A grand isn't enough to relinquish the #1 spot. Once the official pictures and specs come out, it could be worth much more. If you decide not to do it, you'll still be the first on the street with a new M3. That, to me, is special.

I will take the money. He may even pay more. He started with 1k, and most probably will be willing to pay more. Up the stakes, if he really wants it he will pay more.
