Barkley insists he's serious about political run
"I can't run until 2014," he said. "I have to live there for seven years, so I'm looking for a house there as we speak." And he said he is an independent, not a Democrat as previously reported. "The Republicans are full of it," Barkley said. "The Democrats are a little less full of it." Asked if he had ever been in the governor's office in Montgomery, Barkley said no. Wow. Sir Charles must have spent too many nights in a Holiday Inn Express. Next thing you know he'll be offering to fly helicopters and perform neurosurgery too.
 Now if you want to see a successful former athlete in politics, check out Ken Dryden. For hockey fans his name should evoke images of Stanley Cups and the Montreal Canadiens. In addition to being a Stanley Cup winning goalie he is also a lawyer, has written books, produced documentaries, and helped run the Toronto Maple Leafs.

probably not, theres a reason politicians are politicians and sports players are just that. and granted you must be an ignorant grumpy old prick for the most part to be a politician with stone age idealogies but i cant see how charlie can bring anything new/good to the table but hell in alabama i cant see how theres much to bring to any way
