That XBR3 is a great set- it has 3 HDMI inputs too! SonyStyle is charging $4600 for that one now
You can get slightly better contrast ratio and blacks on a plasma, but I've got the first gen 40" XBR Bravia and despite just one HDMI input, it's a great TV with great picture, especially from a 1080i source or Blu-Ray DVD. Side note- better TVs show just how terrible some low grade input signals are, such as from analog cable (even the so-called digital channels 2-120 are analog). Some networks, such as Sci-Fi in analog are almost unwatchable because their programming includes many dark or night time scenes. JV

No Xpert, here...but the Sony 50" and even, 60"
SXRD line of LCoS TVs, in 1080p, are in the same price range. They are not hang on the wall, LCDs, and require 12-16" of foot space, but my 60" Sony,NoBaloney, is spectacular when HD feed is good. You may get a diff opin from every one that posts... GL,mD http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Searc...go.x=12&go.y=7

Yeah the 40 Bravia XBR is gangsta, I have it in the bedroom on the wall. MOTORDAVID: I saw in a prev. thread that you have the SXRD LCoS and I actually went searching for that, but of the superstores in my area were out of it; besides I cant use the 60 inch. So I guess I am good to go. JV: You know the price on the 40XBR has fallen in the toilet, right?

I have both the Sony KDL-V40BR1 and a Samsung LN-S4695D. Both look crisp and bright, however the Sony is a better picture. I prefer LCD over Plasma... LCDs just look better to me. ALSO, I bet you can get a better price than that if you shop around. I bought mine locally and negotiated a great price on both - BETTER OR THE SAME AS ONLINE, ESPECIALLY AFTER SHIPPING! ZEROCHIEF: Yeah, I was cross shopping the samsung LN-S4695D. Thats also 1080p and has a better contrast ratio. It also was about $800 less than the sony. The sony has the Bravia engine (whatever the hell that is) and my fiancee loved the 'floating glass'.......
