Averaged 37 mpg at 90 mph!

Just turned in our rental car at the Frankfurt airport and checked the computer readings for info. On our trip we put on 3700 km, averaged 90 mph and got 37.6 mpg! This was a 320d and wow was it a great car! It maxed out at 246 kph according to the speedometer. My son went online and this car is rated at 49 mpg! Why can't we get these cars in the states???

Damn! I want an X5 diesel, but then I would not know which X5 4.4 Sport to give up for it. They tell me late 2007 when the US diesel formulation changes.

I'm with Mark & Lambeau...I'd love an X3 diesel to replace
our 5 yr old X5; maybe in late '07/'08?

Because the law does not require it. Next time you hear the liberals pushing for congress to pass legilation requiring higher fuel efficiency for cars, you'll know why.

I too would love a X5 diesel.

This car had great power with a smooth torque band too. I'll bet an X5 with the same motor & man trans would get 32-35 mpg at least!

The German diesel cars are amazing. I was hoping to get my X3 in a diesel. I have been told the the X3 3.0d is a monster.
