Anyone here ride PWC/Jetski?

Just picked up two Sea Doo GTX w/ SC for the family. Very fast and handles great for a 3 seater. Got them both up to 61 - 62 mph on the lake last month. The rush and sound of the supercharger is so sweet.

Wanted to see if anyone else here rides?

My last PWC was a SeaDoo SPX 2 seater with 115hp, and it would do 60mph. I would do crazy dolphin leaps out of the water with that thing. We used to wakeboard behind my friends 3 seater as well.

My favorite thing to do was to launch out of Dana Point, CA and cruise out and jump the swells. I used to launch >= 10 feet out of the water and land perpindicular to the water and come shooting back up like a cork. Quite an experience if you have never done it.

Very nice water sleds you have there

I had a kawasaki 1100STX for a few years, even brought it out to L.A. when I moved there. Sold it about 3 years ago. The laws governing where and when you can ride them around NY/NJ/LI got ridiculous and the maintenance was a p.i.t.a. Time for a boat

Rules around LI got better, they recently allowed PWC in Fire Island again since most new PWC are very low-emission compared to boats. Most lakes upstates stopped trying to ban pwc after realizing the cost to tourism. The licensing requirement is an annoyance but raising the minimum riding age (from 10yrs -> 16yrs) was a very good idea. I agree a boat will be next but I'll still need to keep a jetski for the lake.

Both GTX are non-intercooled and put out 185 hp. The newer 05-06 put out 215hp. Difference is about 4-5 mph on the top end. Maintanence on the new 4-tec engine is minimal. The closed loop cooling makes it so easy to flush, it takes about 2-3 minutes and the engine never comes in contact with fresh ocean/lake water.

The motor is 4 stroke, fuel injected and liquid cooled. They come a long way......unfort the 2007 that just came out are now $13.5k
