Half a year ago, we were in San Diego and had a chance to visit the USS Midway. I promised pictures but never had the time to post them until now.
USS Midway is a retired Navy aircraft carrier. It is parked at San Diego harbor right by where the cruise ships departs and close to the Star of India ship. It had been in operation for 47 years since after WWII till Desert Storm. Now it is a floating aircraft carrier museum. If you are ever in San Diego, plan to spend a day checking it out.
You can visit many parts of the ship. You can see how large the hanger and flight decks are!! We visited the engine room, sickbay, mess hall, crew quarters, and the bridge. They are currently renovating other parts of the ship for future visitors!! As you can see there are plenty of aircrafts on the ship itself!
Most of the tour guides are actual people who have served on the USS Midway in the past! You can hear some great stories from them.
