The Pan EX line has gotten great reviews and you can definitely beat MSRP. I use one in my downstairs system and a diff brand but similar unit upstairs. We don't have a problem with undervoltage/brown outs here, so I didn't go with a UPS type conditioner. Our AC is noisy though, like most.

You might want to do some research on a UPS that provides a Pure Sine Wave output as a lot of systems on the market don't get close and it makes a big difference. The other thing to remember is if you have an open output to an external source your surge protector is useless unless everything that is connected together is protected. Every power input, Coax input, Telco input and Ethernet should be within a walled garden.

I'm using the Panamax unit that is a step below your proposed model, Eric, and I have no complaints about it. I live in a townhouse, and my power generally comes through clean, but as hot and humid as the summers get here, and everyone blasting their AC, I'm glad I have the Panamax.
