Anyone has a cargo/roof box on top of their X5?

Just wondering if anyone can comment on wind noise, stability of the X, etc with a roof/cargo box on top. Since I'll be doing some trips to the cottages with the family I decided to pick up a Thule Spirit roof box. With all the baby stuffs the X's cargo won't be enough.

I'll tell you one thing about having ANYTHING on the roof of the X... I have two bike racks up there, and without the bikes even on it I dropped from 320 mile per tank to 270-280 miles per tank.

What size did you get? I need to do the same thing in a few weeks (wife, 2 kids and a dog to the beach on weekends) and wondering what size works well / looks good? Thanks!

Cargo Box

I'll grant you the Thule looks the best of all of them, however for pure functionality and cost, the Sears XCargo Box is a better deal. I studied all of them, and as for going to the beach with the kids, the Sears box holds all the bulky crap associated with the beach and kids.
I drove around 80 mph for 6 hours, nothing really noticeable to complain about.
I'd rather rent one to be honest, cause now I have to store the damn thing!

I got the 16 cubic feet one (689B). The Spirit only come in one size. Other models in the lineup come in different sizes ie Evolution, Cascade XT. Check them out in their website.

Labatta and ACTX5, thanks for your inputs guys.

ATC,

I was looking at the Sears website and the XCargo is state as "no fit" for the X5. Do you use crossbars are just the factory racks?

I use the cross bars, I don't think it would be suitable without them. I just can't see getting strollers, beach chairs, etc in one of the cooler looking long narrow boxes.
