Some E90 and E65 News

I was talking to my sales rep at the dealer on the phone today, and according to him (he's manager of the sales operations at the dealer), the new 2006 E65 7-Series will be arriving in dealers no earlier than June.

As for the E90, he mentioned that by May he should have a demo on the lot. So basically, the E90 is coming later than we had all anticipated, while the refreshed E65 is coming earlier.

My local dealer states that both cars are coming in May.

We'll see. Can't wait to test drive both cars. Both with new engines (750iL with 360hp; 330i with 255hp).

I'm considering an E90 330xi. Hopefully will be available in the xi by this fall.

What does everyone think about the exterior redesign? I think it looks pretty nice-not as badly bangled as the 7er and 5er, IMHO.

I agree Pete, it looks pretty good! Not so sure about the interior though....but like you said, it could be a heck of a lot worse. Those new engines in the 3 will be a heck of a lot of fun!

I agree w/ Pete and Chris. New 3 exterior is modern and evolutionary and the engines are gonna be gems. Interiors are so so but then BMW is never known to make nice interior. But that doesn't matter.

Fwiw, the April issue of Automobile Mag has a pretty rave review of new 330, et al. Some decent pics, too.
In a poifect worl, I'd toss theCEO's CR-V, get her an X3 and latch onto a new 3er or maybe a yearish old M3. I think I'm afflicted by the good ol'amerikan pre-spring, new car fever, lol!

It took some getting used to, but I'm a fan. At first glance, it looks almost Japanese in design... But it's grown on me. I think I like the new A4 better though. I don't think the interior is too bad. But if you want a great interior, go to Audi. I'm interesting to see what the Touring models will look like, and whether or not they will only offer the 325 as a wagon this time around. I'd consider one for my next car... Of course, that's about 3 years away.. And I'm leaning towards an SUV anyway... But I still like it!

Talking

Heheh I would love to one day drive a 750Li, but I fear that if I choose to test-drive this car for more 10 minutes or longer, I will never be happy again until I buy one (which I can't afford by a long shot).

As for the 330i, I am very closely following this beast. I intend to do a test drive of the beast this late spring when my dealer gets them in. I love the X5, and I won't part with it at any cost, but a 330i is a really tempting thought. I'd love to be able to carve corners again, or burn out rear tires on a wide left turn with the DSC off.

Speaking of the E90, look what BMW sent me:

I won't replace the X5-probably keep it for as long as it runs well, which hopefully is a good long time! 330xi would be in additon to it-primarily for wifey, but I'll probably snag it often.

I was told the 5-series will also get the new I6 engine (same as the one in the new 3-series) and they would be coming sometime this May as 2006 models. This guy is the salesman from whom I have bought my last 4 BMW's and he advised me against buying or leasing the 525i or 530i until May when the new engine arrives. He also stated that there would be no engine change on the X3 or X5 (make sense).
