Interesting house guest.

These are no Mickey or Motordavid type pictures but I had to show you a little visitor I had today. He was hanging out on the side of my garage. Living in a particularly hot and dry part of Southern California, we get all kinds of interesting bugs like this guy. The first picture is entitled "What are you looking at???".

PNG/K: Those are fine mantis pics! Great closeup stuff.

Mantis religiosa in general and maybe M.carolina or a western
version. Mantids are great for the garden or house in general as they are ferocious bug hunters. Outstanding macro pic#1 with the monster staring right at you and camera! BR,md

Great Macros. A little bit of post processing would really bring the colors out. What camera is this?

Thanks Mickey. Believe it or not, I used my Canon A80 4.0 megapickle. It's a great little camera. It was handy so I grabbed it instead of my Minolta DiMage 7i 5.0 megapickle.

The tough parts of these shots was getting up close enough without spooking the subject, the bright sunlight washing out my LCD, and the fact that this bug was on the side of my garage. I had to do some contortions to get the right angles.

Great pics. Consider yourself lucky that he didn't eat your head while you were shooting
