Thumbs up The Friday Files

Happy Friday everyone!

This past week, two of our members passed a milestone here at X5world. Quicksilver and Michelle both clicked over the 5000 post mark. That is a whole lotta posts! I want to recognize them not just for the achievement of that many posts but also for the quality of their posts. Quicksilver is not as prolific in the main forum but he reigns in The Lounge as one of elder statesmen. His posts are interesting and informative and he is never one to hide his opinions. He is always a gentleman and having met him in person a couple of times, I can say that. Michelle was our first female Premier Member and she has been a big part of the site ever since. She brings a unique female perspective with her posts and there is always a certain niceness about her posts. Besides that, she somehow puts up with SuperGreg which is admirable in itself. I have also met Michelle in person and she too is a very nice person. (How did I meet a member from The SF Bay Area and a member from Maryland you ask? It's the X5world Meets. ) Congratulations to two of our great members on their official coronation as . : I would like to add WagnerX5 to this recognition. He's also over the 5000 post mark and he's done it with his always provocative posts. Even though he's posted over 5000 times I still can't figure out what his politics are.

No matter what one's politics are I think we can all agree that graffiti is an expensive blight on communities everywhere. I cannot for the life of me understand it and what motivates kids to "tag". I mean, on an intellectual level I do understand the reasons it is done but I still can't get over it. I happened to come in contact today with a couple of 15 year olds who were cold busted tagging up some city property. They were caught red handed, or should I say yellow handed since that was the color of paint that covered both the wall and their hands. I asked them why they did it and they looked at me like I asked them to explain Einstein's theory of relativity. A disturbing new trend in graffiti is to use a fire extinguisher to propel paint to great heights very quickly so we are starting to see tagging that is 20 feet tall and is that much more expensive to clean up. I know that graffiti is not a new phenomenon and has been going on as far back as Pompeii. Back then it was mostly political stuff but there was also silly things too. So it continues to this day and we try to combat it with surveillance, law enforcement, and prompt eradication but stupid people will continue to be, well, stupid. I have often thought that if someone invented a surface preparation that would make it impossible for spray paint to adhere, that person would become insanely rich. Here is an idea from New Zealand that not only shows a possible solution but shows that graffiti is not just an American problem.

I have to mention something about Anna Nicole Smith because it is all over the media. She was a trainwreck and lived a tumultuous life for sure. In life people liked to make fun of her and she was an easy target. She even capitalized on it so in many ways I don't feel sorry for her. It doesn't help that the last year of her life was so filled with soap opera/Jerry Springer drama. I know that I have always dismissed her as a joke and I have never had any sympathy for her. She had certainly done her share of damage in life always gave plenty of reasons to either laugh at her or hate her. I must admit that it is sad to look back on her life now and see how crazy it was from start to finish. She obviously had many demons and I believe that it was her dependence on drugs and alcohol that killed her as it killed her son. (There has been some mention of a heart defect that she and her son may have both had.) All that money she "inherited" from the oil tycoon didn't exorcise her demons and couldn't save her from herself. The ultimate tragedy is the legacy that she has left for her infant daughter Dannielynn. Some speculate that the baby was born prenatally exposed to heroin or methadone and that is bad enough but add to it the paternity fight over her and the cloud being Anna Nicole's baby will alway hang over her head.

I've heard of a murderous woman nicknamed "Black Widow" but how about Wasp Woman? Another reason to go to school. Maybe the graduates of that school move to the UK. Hmmm. I don't even want to try to explain this one. I wonder if this guy could have used the previous link's contents to help his cause? Some people can't distinguish between reality and fiction. They ought to jump off a bridge. This guy needs a beating. I must be a great worker because I'm always pissed off. I'm back up by science. Finally, as an addendum to The Friday Files from a couple of weeks ago, another idiot celeb goes to rehab.

Have a great weekend! Happy long weekend for those lucky enough to have Lincoln's birthday off next Monday. (Yes, I do. )
