vegas to grand canyon to san diego?

Hey everyone-

As some of you know from my earlier posts regarding good hotels in vegas, i'll be with my gf in Vegas for Valentines + an extra night: 14th and 15th, leaving Friday the 16th.

Since Monday is a holiday, we have a lot of time to do whatever, especially since I've gotten all my reading done through Tuesday the 20th

That said, I am NOT equally free with finances unfortunatey, but I was wondering how crazy you thought it would be for me to go from Vegas to Grand Canyon for one night (arriving Friday night) and then drive back to SD on Saturday?

I've never been to the canyon, except when I was a baby -- is it worth going for just one night to see the view over hte South Rim? We'd be staying in Grand Canyon Village.

ALSO: I'm used to doing a lot of driving all over California: I did 4,000 miles over Christmas break alone. So really I guess the driving isn't so much an issue, but perhaps pure fatigue may be an issue considering we would be just leaving Vegas.

Simply put: is it an unwise idea to cram so much in ? Or do you think it would be fun?

One last factor: if only out of safety/responsibility, I don't particularly like taking a gf to do something I haven't done before if there's ANY possibility of "danger." I mean, I've never done the drie to hte Grand Canyon, so I don't know what's involved -- inclimate weather, etc. -- so that's another reason I'm disinclined to do it even though i'd very much like to.
