Recommendations for an external hard drive?

I'm in the market for an external hard drive for my computer. I have about 4000 pictures and 7000 iTunes songs on my computer, and it's really bogging down the performance. I have an Apple iBook G4, if that makes a difference. I'm looking for 300-500GB of capacity. Any recommendations?

Check out this link for some ideas. Prices have really come down for external HD's.

That is the one I'm looking at.. Good capacity, FireWire, and designed by Porsche :-)

I get all of my externals from newegg. Just order the raw drive and an external case and you're ready to go.

Btw- if you have that much info on a single drive, I would highly recommend that you buy another drive so that you can have a 2nd copy.

Hope you did your research on LaCie's. The failure rate is less than attractive. Mine seem to be having a few issues so I'm going with this one . It has a 16 MB Cache which is better than LaCies a 3 year warranty ect. http://www.westerndigital.com/en/pro...sp?DriveID=242 Of course the price is better on Amazon.

sometimes, at fry's electronics, they have great deals on external seagates. $150 for a 400 gb with 16 mb cache once, and $250 for a 500 gb

I own 9 external HDDs including Seagate and WD.
By far WD ones stands above the crowd both in design and functionality.
I love my 500 GB myBook and also 160GB portable one that draws power from my laptop.

Picked up a 320gb MyBook Premium about a month ago...works seamlessly. I couldn't be happier.
