Intuit Makes TurboTax Available for Free

In 2006, the company charged users to file their federal taxes electronically; this year, the company has also removed that fee, allowing users to file a 1040EZ federal tax return with no fees whatsoever using the TurboTax Free Edition. Like its other products, however, Intuit charges a fee to file a state return, including e-filing.

Just to be more clear, if you use the ONLINE version, your federal e-file is free, if you use the CD version, you have to pay. Not only do you have to pay, but they changed the fee in the last month!
