WASHINGTON - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich acknowledged he was having an extramarital affair even as he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he acknowledged in an interview with a conservative Christian group.

Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity.

I don't know what is worse...the hypocracy or the fact that some chick actually screwed Newt Gingrich

Not trying to defend him, but I do think there is a difference here. As I recall, Newt and others went after Clinton not because of the affair itself but rather due to the fact that Clinton lied about it. With Newt, at least he is owning up to it.

I'm not a Newt fan, but perjury over cheating is very different than just cheating. The big surprise to me is that a lot of people will vote for Newt if he runs.
