What does it matter? Today's burners can burn on any media, plus all modern DVD players play +R and -R...

Fry's Electronics almost always has 50-packs of 8x DVD-R or DVD+R for around $12.50 with no rebate required. Granted, it is GQ brand, not Verbatim, but I've had no problems with GQ (Great Quality). Check the weekly ad in the Friday paper.

But your chances to play back a DVD-R on an older player is greater if you have DVD-R.

My Tivo with DVD Burner will only burn and playback DVD-R

Other programs I have for making Archive copies of my DVD's tend to skip with +R (I have no idea why, they just do) Plus I cannot then play them on my DVD player (the Tivo, which is a modern albeit specialty DVD Player) which only plays -R as well.

Hmm...well excuse my ignorance then. I use two DVD players personally. The one here in Toronto is a cheap Samsung device I got for $90 Canadian.

Up at the cottage in Barrie (about 80 miles from Toronto), I have a nicer Samsung DVD Player for $200 Canadian.

Both play all types of media, from multiple manufacturers. My latest test was when I burned on this generic 16X DVD+R media I had. Both players read it without stuttering.

With regards to the TIVO, I guess the most complex a device is, the more limitations it has?
