Yeah, I paid $1700 just for the body of my D100 6.1 MP about 2-1/2 years ago. At the time the D100 model was only about a year old. Makes the D80 look inexpensive!

That's why I recommended investing in the lenses, they stay constant and the bodies always get upgraded.

No D2Hs in the pro line?

I would have thought the D100 and D200 were down in the amateur trenches with me and my trusty D70.

Nice specs on the new D80, but I need to figure out all the capabilities of my D70 first. That should take some time yet....
