Looks like I'm going to need to call Animal Control.....
I was sitting in my basement watching tv, when I heard a clawing noise at the window. I have this well window type thing, with an opening at ground level, and a well thing that leads to a window so light goes through.
Turns out a large family of five raccons moved into that cramped space. They looks like 3-4 of them were just born.
So looks like I'll be calling Cook County Animal Control.....poor things...they must be starving...

I was going to call you, Michelle....I knew this was your specialty..

I can't set them free, the window is under an outdoor deck with 4 in of clearance, the only way to get them out is via the house. And no way am I going to open the window and have 5 little starving racoons running in my house.
The CC Animal Control isn't open until 8am. I've already called and said to come right away...I hope they survive the night.... This sucks...

they probably ARE starving -- the poor things. Dont' kill 'em... they have as much right to live as we do... matter of fact, feed the poor things.

I know, I feel terrible. I can't get any food to them, becuase if I open the window they will spill/jump out of it into my house. There's no way to access from above.
Any ideas on what to do besides calling animal control?

create a netting around the window and let them out...don't forget to close the door to your basement

Do NOT fool with them. Raccoons are frequently rabid, and will bite you, even though they look cute. Leave them alone and let your Animal Cops handle it.

and don't feed them either. Let your Animal Cops handle it They are cute and yes deserve to live but everyone i have ever talked to about them say's they are bad news. A word to the wise?????
