OK folks I need your help!

It's time to select a countertop color in the house of Chris F

I'll post some pictures below to give you guys an update of where I stand with the kitchen! The upper cabinets are up, the flooring is in, and the base cabinets are going to be done by moi this weekend. It is slowly coming together!

I have picked Silestone as a countertop. This is a man-made quartz. It's very similar to granite.

I am trying to decide whether I want a light or dark countertop! You can see the color of the flooring (ignore the pieces of flooring to the left of the cabinet, those are going to be hidden) and color of the countertops.

I am thinking a nice dark countertop would give a nice contrast to the wood floor and maple cabinets. I think a lighter counter might blend in too much.

Appliances are going to be stainless steel (at least thats my decision for now!)

I have no idea what to use for a wall color just yet. The white looks very stark I know.....

I am also attaching some pictures of what each color looks like in someones house so you can get an idea of what it looks like when installed (obviously ignore their cabinet color and stuff)

Any thoughts are welcome!

My vote is for the darker color: contrasts with your cabs and
floor and is not a similar hue that gets lost in the overall look,

We too recently installed a quartz countertop and chose a darker color. In fact, our kitchen was pretty similar in size and shape to yours, except with a white-tile floor.

Go with the darker color........the white colors can look cheap if chosen poorly and don't look distinctive enough. We repainted the walls..........orange. No, I know it sounds ridiculous at first, but believe me, it really works. Go with a stainless steel sink, and change the light above the window to recessed lighting, preferably one similar to what they use in jewelry showcases with the multi-reflective 35W bulbs.

If you go with dark tops, which should be great,consider lighter walls so the room doesn't shrink. Like an eggshell. Looks great so far!

Sweet guys, thank you all for the super fast comments! Now you know why I haven't been posting too much....this has kept me SORE and BUSY!

Keep 'em coming, I have a week to decide. I think overall I tend to agree with you guys, the contrast will be nice for the room.
