I have been told that kayak.com is excellent. My friend who travels a ton and has to make his on reservations swears by it.

site59.com is pretty good for last minute trips. If you use Orbitz or Expedia, google for coupon codes before you book because they are frequently floating around.

I have always Used travelocity.com or priceline.com, they work well on hotels with me, I use my AA miles for flights
