...I'm 4 months into a new position, that for the most part is o.k.....I manage a large-ish apartment building in Hancock Park (midtown)...my tenants are cool (minus one or two misfits), the apartment I live in is nice....the money is ok also....but the owners are a thorn in my side.
....I've worked very hard for them to make their building look nice and pull in max rents....I inherited 5 vacant apartments in January, and had them all rented by mid-February.....the building is at full occupancy now, they haven't had to call a plumber or electrician in 4 months (I can do that stuff myself)....but they're cheap bastards who are always asking for more....and not paying me for services that weren't included in the original, verbal deal. I've signed nothing with them, contract wise, so I'm not legally bound in any way....so......
...Got a call from a wealthy couple who are looking for a resident manager for 3 of their buildings,
on the boardwalk, in Venice Beach....I've come highly recommended by a very close friend, the money offered is incipidly large, there is gated parking, and, needless to say, the Pacific Ocean right out the front door. The unit offered for my use has a deck with ocean view, hardwood floors and completely is contemporized....the couple seems quite nice and they are offering many incentives...I'd live in one building and manage all three....they want me....the job is there for the taking, starting June 1st....Do I give these schmos I'm with now a wavey and say 'see ya'....??....I'm a stand-up guy with a really good work-ethic, and I hate to quit on something I've just started....but....seems like a no-brainer....opinion, pulleeze.....what would you do?
