Lol.. I know.. I know... Only 282 hp in my little 993. But you should see how disappointed the 996 guys are when I'm sitting in their rearview anxiously waiting my "point-by" B

Hayaku,
If this is your dedicated track car, how come you don't have a roll bar or cage installed? Also, I am considering the installation of a racing seat and roll bar for one reason, A HANS DEVICE... If you don't have one, you might want to think about getting one immediately. I know many track drivers who won't track without it. I might make the $$$ plunge.. Safety first !! B

you've caught an "inbetween phase" for the car... its on its last stages of final transformation into spec race car... all bolt in equipment is out of the car as of last week. this event was a last minute sort of thing. the piping for the weld in cage is sitting in the shop. some are bent and molded already and just waiting for the full strip down of the car (down to bare tub frame only) for the welding process. with the shop having real pro race cars in the work queue, i'm squeezed in when there is time... we kinda just threw back in the stock seats and steering wheel for this and a few other low speed/low risk events. without my coach, i never drive beyond 7/10ths of what i can do (my 10/10ths is way less then what the car can dish out). all day i was driving only at 5/10ths to 6/10ths (hence the no tire squealing). very rarely did i approach 7/10ths (maybe only 2 turns in that track) because of traffic and my normal conservative chickenshit self instinct to not push it unsupervised... i do have a HANS device at the shop... i wore the "horse collar" on this track (with the stock 3 point belt) and use the HANS with my 5 point harness. I don't know why i do that, just habit and that automatically happens... no logic... i don't think i can use an x5 4.4 for my tow vehicle... i have to be realistic.. the amount of junk i have accumulated for track purposes can outfit a fairly complete auto shop... i'm nuts i know... |

Since my clutch is shot we are installing the RS CLUTCH and RS LIGHT WEIGHT FLYWHEEL. While were at it, taking out the brass syncro rings for 3, 4 and 5th gear and going Stailess (who wants to double clutch anyway, lol) Then I am doing a H&R Coilover with RS Sway Bar. And to top it off, since my rotors are shot, going to upgrade to big reds. (The C2S comes with black smaller Brembos, I am upgrading to the turbo brakes.) We might also tweak the Limited Slip Diff, give it another setting (maybe 50/50 vs. 80/20) we will see..

the lightweight flywheel is a BIG THUMBS UP from me!!! super easy to heel-toe... i was having some problems with the fast double and triple heel-toes before my flywheel.. now its a breeze! I still have to double-clutch when i drop to 1st tho (but those are very rare corners that call for a slingshot out in 1st) |
