Phone phreaks: HTC 6800 Mogul advice
I am considering this PDA phone because there is a pretty killer deal on plans right now. The voice part is a good deal but the killer part is unlimited texting and data, including web. It's $30 for 500 anytime with free nights and w/e AND the unlimited data. You cannot beat that. It's not a publicly advertised promo. You must get a referral from a Sprint employee. Thanks in advance for opinions. ![]()

awesome phone... couple coworkers have the 8525 and it's lot better than the old 8125's. Go for and make sure you upgrade to WM6...

The deal is great the phone is great; well EXCEPT the phone is thick. I have a great phone in the SE P990i, but on weekends I take out my sim card and put it into my Moto V3i (iTunes version).
I just not liking the thickness on my cell phone and you may also have this problem. You should get the iPhone

The 8525 is not the Mogul...the 8525 has been out for almost a year now, the Mogul just released. The Mogul is slightly smaller than the 8525, it has WM6 (vs WM5 for 8525) and has more memory.
btw- the iPhone and Mogul are completly different phones and should not be compared. The Mogul and Tytn (8525) are full WM devices with High speed internet (EVO or 3.5g speeds) and full MS Exchange or Blackberry support. The iPhone is only EDGE speed (much slower) and will not support true Push email. I have the HTC Tytn (8525) and upgraded it to WM6...it is an awesome phone!! The Mogul should be a nice improvement, but not significantly better.

I agree that the iPhone is not the same and for my money I'm getting the Mogul. Even if and when iPhone/ATT go 3G with it I think Rev. A will be faster in a more usable package. To me, the iPhone is a very pretty iPod with a cellphone attached.

HTC Mogul and BMW Bluetooth.
here is the real question for the new mogul... has anyone got it to connect with bmw bluetooth, more specifically a bimmer that has idrive w/ nav, and stay connected? also reconnect when you get back in the car? i use the PPC-6700 and am only able to get it connected when i update the rom of it to a custom rom from Kirvin over at ppcgeeks.com. but the only thing is, is that i have to pair it every time i get in the car. very aggrivating. anyone had any better luck with the Mogul? any help at all would be greatly appreciated guys!
Thanks in advance, Kelly |

At the time I bought my current phone, the Mogul was delayed, with an ETA of September, which led me to my decision to replace my Treo 650 with the 755p, even though the 755p is little changed from the earlier Treos.
Prior to buying my phone, I borrowed a friend's PPV6700 for a week to try it out. I knew beforehand of the PPV6700's problems and idiosyncracies, many of which I knew would be addressed and fixed with the PPV6800. The biggest showstopper for me was the inability to use the phone one-handed; maybe it's me, but I just can't dial using the touchscreen interface and I didn't care much for the slider keyboard. Plus the PPV6800's lacked the PPV6700's PAM capability which was it's biggest sell point. So far, I'm very happy with my Treo 755p - it's been super-stable (it hasn't crashed once in 3 months), the EVDO speeds are very nice (I can view X5world in normal HTML instead of WAP), and my old applications (Agendus, Butler, Keycaps, Directory Assistance) worked fine on my new phone. You don't need SERO to get a good contract with Sprint. I'm paying $109 total for 5 EVDO phones, 1800 shared minutes, free evenings at 6 pm, 500 free texts per phone, and free Sprint Vision before a 25% business discount and a brand new Treo 755p for $229, on the day the 755p's were released. |
