I just went to the ATT store

Had interesting conversation with the rep there. No lines no crowd and no camp outs. I asked him if I can upgrade my line to an iPhone. Simple answer No. As I have a business account and have 5 lines, iPhone is available on personal or family plans only.

He did ask me to call the ATT 611 number and ask them to put a note on my account. So I call them and the dude I talk to is as lost as the rep there at the store.

To cut the story short, the note is there but they can't "upgrade" the business account and it has to be a personal account. I said ok what else...so here goes...

1. Made it s a point to tell me there is no MMS or picture messaging
2. No corporate email only personal(yeah?)
3. and the kicker...insurance is not offered by ATT for this phone. Hell they offer insurance for every other phone except this.

Anyways, I think spent or wasted 45 minutes of my life talking to them.

You are right.
I do not have insurance either on my HTC but by the way the rep talked, it seemed like iPhone was the only exception for no insurance

The ATT store in Times Square has metal parade barricades up with 3 people in line already.... I had to control myself to keep from heckling them. I was going to walk up to the ubermorons and ask if they wanted to borrow my bberry to make a call.... I just don't understand the need to be first with a new gadget.

I totally agree. The iPhone is nice, but like any gadget it has it's limitations....and there will be iPhone v. 99 in a few years I'm sure

Why no insurance offered by ATT on the Blackberrys and HTC smartphones? Theft rates? Replacement cost? Bogus claims?

No such problem with Sprint.
