TomTom owners:

I have a question for you. A friend of mine owns a TomTom (i don't) He's not very tech and he's stuck trying to figure this out. Here's his question:

Say you've input guidence for a destination and during your trip you decide you want to terminate that guidence before you arrive at your destination. Is there a simple way to terminate it?

a simpler way than going to the menu and tapping on "cancel route"? well, he could just turn the unit off entirely.

on my tomtom go 910, i tap on the map area once, which gets me to the menu. it's the 3rd menu screen, iirc, where the cancel route option is. this is indeed too far deep into the menus to get to, in my opinion - it should really be in the first menu screen. or, i've simply chosen another destination - tap on the map area once, and the "navigate to" option is on that first menu screen. setting a new destination cancels the first destination, of course.

He already has, and as i specified in the orignal post my friend is not very tech savy. I read it online myself and didn't readly find it either. But i'll pass along your kind advice. I'm sure he will appreciate your fine direction.

I'll check and see what model he has and pass your information along. Thanks.

the tomtom is damn easy to use. No offense to your friend but if you can't figure it, there's something wrong besides technically challenged.... touch the screen in the map, a menu comes up... just like Gresch said also, you turn it off. When you power it back on, it will ask if you want to stop or continue guidance... doesn't matter what model...

No offense taken. Especially from you. but realize when i say "technically challenged" I mean it. and since i don't own one i took the short route.
Honestly i was not around to check it out for myself but he thinks that there may be something wrong with his unit. Trouble is we haven't been in the same place at the same time for me to check it out. So please excuse me for trying to get a direct answer.
