Successful face transplant

Do you remember the movie Face/Off with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage? Here is an incredible story that I read on one of the major French newspaper web site "Le Monde" of a successful face transplant on woman. In 2005 a 38 years old French woman was disfigured by her dog which completely torn out her nose, lips and chin. Several month after the accident she was given the face of a woman who died few day earlier. You can see on the second picture that she has recovered very well. But she now has a face and smile of somebody else. I read the entire story which is her interview. She described what happened during the accident and how difficult the first year had been. The night when the accident happened she took strong sleeping pills because she had some pain. Her dog she said may have tried to wake her up and by doing so it torn her face out. She said that when she woke up in the morning she did not feel any pain. She did what she used to do every morning that is to say put a cigarette to her lips before lighting it up but this time the cigarette would not stay. She could not comprehend what was happening. She went to the bathroom to look at her face and could not believe what she saw. Instead of her mouth and nose there was a big hole. She said she was still groggy so she though she was having a nightmare. She called her daughter who screamed when she saw her mother and this is when she realized that this was not a dream. She stayed in the hospital for 6 month until she was proposed a face transplant. She was told about all the risks of such a massive operation and that there was still a lot of unknown as it was never been done before. She said she did not think twice and said ok right away. Today she is living a normal life so she says.
I wanted to share this story as I found it really incredible. How would you feel having the face of somebody else?
