OH OH. I wonder if i should do the upgrade? Might mess up my 700P. Then I would have to get an iPhone.

Edit: really involved upgrade. Haven't done it yet but it appears you better save everything carefully cause it requires a hard reset, phone needs to be plugged in, and you gotta babysit while it downloads the update. It says 30 min? Plan on an hour.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D052; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)

I did it last night. I backed up my stuff with Backup Buddy. You can download a trial version for Win or Mac. Backup it up on your PC/Mac. I also have Backup Buddy VFS (to back up on my SD CARD). Made 2 backups. Hard resetted my Treo & wiped it cleaned. Got 2nd clean SD card & used the SD card method to update the Treo. The update took about 30 min. After updating, then VZW users need to do two things: (1) *228 option 1 to get back on the VZW network (2) *22899 to update network data connection & PRL. Palm does not tell you that, but found out from www.treocentral.com 700p forum. Then restore your data using Backup Buddy.

Barry, you should do it. The phone works better with lots less lag. Yeah, there are some new bugs with the MR, but they are liveable. So far so good. It is like I got a new Treo. Phone quality/connection is better. No more SMS lag! And as you can see, still able to post on X5World with my Treo 700p! Good luck.

I did it last night too...I think it took under the 45 minutes it estimated and you only really need to be there in the beginning and towards the end when you have to set the language and calibrate the touchscreen...it does seem to go to Blazer a lot faster and switching out of Blazer seems faster as well. There also doesn't seem to be too long of a delay when switching out of Googlemaps. Haven't tested out the bluetooth to see if it's fully compatible with the X5. I don't use Versamail because of the lag from before, but I might try it out and see if it's better.

bluetooth appears to work perfectly now...the yellow light does not come on anymore and the current caller shows up on the MID as opposed to the last caller. oh, forgot to check to see if contacts loaded or if you still need to have the callers in programmed into your favorites.

Correct on the yellow light thing. I looked for it but apparently the phonebook loaded so quickly it never came on.

It appears that you still need to have the callers in programmed into your favorites but here's something different. The favorites show up in alphabetical order which is not the way i have them listed in the Palm.

One other thing. Until yesterday people on the other end could not hear me very well when i made a call from the X. Now that seems to have been cleared up.

Anyone else wanting to do this but don't have the time. Do like i did. I took it to Verizon and they did it for me.

are you having issues with the internet on your phone? every now and then when i want to use the web, i'll get either the website is not available or that the service is not available in this area. i have to *22899 or *228 option 2 first before it will work again. i think i might have to take it into verizon if i can't figure it out soon.

I did this update (Treo 700p - Verizon) and it was a huge mistake. I am in and out of EVDO and 1X areas. Many times, where I most need to check and send mail is when I am in 1X. The updated phone simply does not work properly for me under these circumstances. After spending too much time on the phone with Palm and Verizon, I insisted a refurbished pre 1.10 phone be sent to me for swap out. I'll have it tomorrow. I'm not alone, Palm is has its hands full with the problems people are having with this update....

The answer is Blackberry for Verizon or I Phone for AT&T

If that happend in the last few days it may be because there was a huge power outage in San Francisco which took a number of web sites off line. I was having issues as well. Try it today and see whats up.
