Computer buying advice

I am going to buy myself a new PC but would like some advice from you guys and girls as I know there are a few experts around here.

I want a media centre pc I was ideally wanted some thing smaller in size than a standard tower but I am struggling to find some thing with the power I want in the more compact size.

I need the computer to have some kind of digital out put for sound ie coaxal or infa red (toselink) I think that is what it is called I need this so I can connect to my av amp.I also need DVI or HDMI output to goto my tv although I dont have hdmi on my curent TV but I do have DVI and composite. I also want to connect my Xbox HD DVD drive to the computer as the xbox is in the cuboard and dont leave it connected. I have been told I need a powerfull computer to run the HD DVD drive I have a LCD 26 inch TV if that makes any difference.

I have a few questions that will help me decide what spec to get.

I was thinking a intel e6600 2.4 ghz 1066 fsh but I have now seen Q6600 Qaud core is it worth the extra money ?

What version of vista do I need 32 bit or 64 bit or does that depend on which of the above prosessor I choose?

I was thinking of getting ndiva 8600 gts because I have been told has good outputs I dont play any games on the PC That is what the x box is for.

I was going to get 2048 ram memory 667 some places offer 800 does this make much difference?

Any advice would be gladly welcomed.

Thanks in advance

E6420 overclocked. Motherboard with intel G33 chips for HDMI, Blueray, HDDVD support.

You could get 800 memory real cheap at newegg.com.

After you picked your Windows PC that matches your list, compare your numbers with these and decide:

http://www.apple.com/mac/

so once again, someone asks for PC help and the mac fan boys respond with "get a mac"

if someone said "i'm looking to get a pick up truck" would you recommend a mini cooper?

And once again someone needs to get offended by it. But to use your anology if someone said "i'm looking to get a pick up truck" would you recommend a mini cooper? No I would recommend the best truck for the price that will get the job done. Mini cooper not required.

So let it be written so let it be done.

No Mac stores in the UK? Hmmmm i wonder. With 10 Mac stores in the UK it would seem that shipping may not be required
