Paintball

I went on a paintball "team building" event yesterday. It's amazing that you can team build by shooting your coworkers in the head with paint balls.

The last time I played was at least 13 years ago and that was at an indoor facility. This time it was outdoors and it's quite different. The most noticeable differences are the guns have more power and the lighting isn't such a factor.

The other big difference is I'm older and out of shape compared to the last time I played. I'm aching all over from all the running, crouching, ducking and crawling.

Any one else play paintball?

I used to play pretty regularly. It is a blast. A group of us would head out into the brush with our own gear and have at it. It's always tricky playing paintball with a group of ex-military/law enforcement people. It's so much fun to act like a kid and play "cowboys and indians" or "cops and robbers" without having to point your finger and yell "bang".

The only exposure to paintball lately has been in training events with some paintball and mostly Simunitions which is very realistic and hurts more than paintballs.

For the first part of my bachelor party, we went to play paint ball. That was a mistake as for the main event, they gave me a 5 minute head start, and all came hunting after me. I ran like hell, climbed up a tree and was able to pick off 5 of them before getting killed! I had bruises all over for the evening activity! But that's another story

I've never done it. I do however like the idea of "team building". I may have to suggest this at the next meeting.
