Whistle The Friday Files, sort of

Hey everyone and happy Friday. This past week has been pretty crazy. I've been temporarily assigned to another work location that requires an hour and a half drive each way... without traffic. If there's traffic it's a half hour or more additional seat time. It's not fun driving at all. My issued Ford Taurus is not exactly a great freeway cruiser and the many uphill portions are frustrating. I'm going to request a 760Li if I have to do this drive any more. I've got some more days of this temporary duty including tomorrow so I'm not going to write my usual feature. Sleep is a priority as the 3 hours of driving each day has kicked my butt, plus it's been 106 degrees and over 50% humidity! That saps your energy in a big way.

Another reason my butt has been kicked this week is that I'm dogsitting a big ol' Rottweiler puppy. He's only 8 months old but weighs about 90 pounds already! He's a really good dog. He's obedient, friendly, and very lovable. The only thing is that he's a typical puppy so he gets into some mischief and being a big boy who doesn't know how big he is, that can be a problem too. We'll have him for as long as we want until the end of September. His owner is on tour until then. We can return him to his other minders but we're kind of getting attached so we'll have to see when we can part with him. I've attached a couple of pictures below. One is of the partial aftermath of him discovering a full bag of potting soil and dragging the bag all over the yard. He is a very strong dog! The other picture is of his giant melon of a head. I'm not sure if it's all brains in that skull. Really, he's a good dog and is quite intelligent. We're working hard to reinforce his good habits and teach him as best as we can. He is responding well despite his puppy antics.

On a related note, I mentioned his owner is on tour. He's out with the "American Idols Live" tour and I worked with him last Sunday at the show in Anaheim. It was a decent show and one that you could bring your kids to so that was nice. They sounded okay with Sanjaya sounding as awful as you'd imagine and I thought Blake Lewis sounded very mediocre. The rest sounded great and Hayley Scarnato surprised me because she's improved. She's also recently single. She broke off her engagement for reasons I will not state without confirmation but I'm told it was her decision. I didn't interact with all of them but Hayley, Melinda, and Gina Glockson were very nice. Most of them were very good to the fans too. They stayed for quite a long time after the show signing autographs in the parking lot. Sanjaya was notably absent. Having seen them all pre-show and during sound check and then after hair and makeup, I can say that all that prep helps.

Well, off to bed to get some sleep before another long drive tomorrow morning. Have a great weekend!
